Teaching activities

Max Shleymovich was born on October 14th in Penza (Russian Federation). In 1956-1960, ­ Shleymovich studied at Minsk Civil Engineering College, where he was trained as a civil engineer. After that, he worked at Mingorproject. In 1964-1969, M. Shleymovich studied at Belarusian Polytechnic Institute. Later, he worked as a senior architect at architectural and engineering workshop of the Vitebsk region branch of the design institute “Belgosproject” in Novopolotsk.
In 1971, Max Shleymovich became the chief architect of Novopolotsk; and in 1981, he became the Head of the architectural workshop at Belarusian Scientific and Research Institute of Urban Development simultaneously performing the duties of the chief architect of Novopolotsk; after establishing of Novopolotsk branch of the design institute, M. Shleymovich had been working as a chief architect of the branch till 2003.
He participated in design and realization of the design and plan development of Novopolotsk and Polotsk. Max Shleymovich headed the team of contributors on the design of the micro-district № 8 (1984-1987) and № 9 (1989-1990) in Novopolotsk, the southern part of the micro-district № 1 (1988-1989) and micro-district № 2 (1998) in Polotsk, several major public and residential buildings in Polotsk and Novopolotsk.
Shleymovich was elected a Deputy of the Novopolotsk City Council of Workers’ Deputies in 1973-1975, 1975-1977, 1977-1980, 1982-1985, 1986-1987.
Since February 2004, he works as a Senior Lecturer and Associate Professor at Polotsk State University. M. Shleymovich works in the field of scientific research work on the improvement of the design and housing development of Novopolotsk.
On September 18, 2013, M. Shleymovich was awarded an academic rank of an Associate Professor in Architecture.
Currently teaches the following disciplines:
  • Urban Planning and Physical Planning;
  • Social Foundations of Architectural Engineering;
  • Landscape Design.

Social esteem

In 1984, he became the BSSR State Prize Laureate in the field of architecture for the design and housing development of Polotsk and Novopolotsk. M.
Shleymovich was elected a corresponding member of Belarusian Academy of Architecture.
