Teaching activities

In 1976, Dmitry Zhukov graduated from Belarusian Polytechnic Institute (BPI) specializing in “Civil and Industrial Engineering”.
In 1995, D. Zhukov was awarded an academic degree of PhD in Engineering specializing in “Constructions, Buildings and Structures”. He defended his PhD thesis on “Deformation and Resistibility of Reinforced-concrete Pole of Annular Section under Various Compression Modes with Torsion” supervised by N. I. Karpenko, Professor, PhD in Engineering.
In 1997, Dmitry Zhukov was awarded an academic rank of Associate Professor specializing in “Architecture”.
In 2005, D. Zhukov was awarded an rank of Professor of Russian Academy of Natural History.
In 1976-1978, he was an assistant lecturer at BPI, and then, an assistant at the Department of Architecture of Industrial Buildings at the same institute.
In 1978-1980, Dmitry Zhukov served as an officer in the position of an engineer of technical supervision of capital construction in the Armed Forces of the USSR.
In 1980-1981, D. Zhukov was an assistant, and later, a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Architecture of Industrial Buildings at BPI; in 1991-1999, he was a Senior Lecturer, and later, an Associate Professor at the same Department at Belarusian State Polytechnic Academy (earlier BPI); in 1999 and 2000, Dmitry Zhukov was an Associate Professor at the Department of Architecture of Industrial Facilities and Architectural Construction (earlier Architecture of Industrial Buildings) at the same academy.
In 2000-2002, D. Zhukov was a Vice Editor-in-chief of the promotion and information leaflet “Belorussky Stroitelny Rynok” (Belarusian Construction Market). Besides, in 2000-2002, he worked as an Associate Professor at the Department of Architecture of Industrial Facilities and Architectural Construction and as an editor of a construction section of the journal “Arkhitektura i Stroitelstvo” (Architecture and Construction). Now he is a special correspondent of the online-media “Stroitelstvo i Nedvizhimost” (Construction and Property).
In 2002-2006, Dmitry Zhukov was an Associate Professor at the Department of Architecture of Industrial Facilities and Architectural Construction at BSPA, and later at Belarusian National Technical University (former BSPA).
Since 2006, Zhukov had worked as an Associate Professor and in 2012-2016, as a Professor at the Department of Interior Design and Furnishing at Belarusian State Academy of Arts. He taught a lot of courses there, supervised Master’s theses of interior designers’ specializing in “Art History”.
In 2016-2018, he worked as a Professor at the Department of Design at the Shirokov's Institute of Contemporary Knowledge, where he taught various bachelor and master’s degree courses and supervised graduation papers in the specialty “Design (Object and Spatial Environment)” and master’s theses in the specialty “Environmental Design”.
In 2015-2018, Dmitry Zhukov performed various tasks (on terms of their hourly payment) in the specialty “Design (Object and Spatial Environment)” at the Department of Architecture at Polotsk State University. He taught various disciplines, supervised the graduation papers and worked in the State Examination Commission.
Since September 2018, D. Zhukov has been an Associate Professor at the Department of Architecture at Polotsk State University.
Currently teaches the following disciplines:
  • Basic principles of construction design;
  • Construction design;
  • Building and facilities structures;
  • Architectonics of three-dimensional configuration;
  • Architectural construction;
  • Graduation papers.

Social esteem

In 1990, Dmitry Zhukov was awarded a silver medal of VDNKh (USSR) for “Installation for Building Elements Testing” and a badge “Inventor of the USSR”.
According to the results of the National Belarusian Competitions, 9 BNTU students’ scientific papers, supervised by D. Zhukov, were awarded the certificates of the 1st degree, and three more were awarded certificates of the 2nd degree. Moreover, during his work at Belarusian State Academy of Arts, one scientific paper under his supervision was awarded a certificate of the 2nd degree, and 8 scientific papers under his supervision were awarded the certificates of the 3rd degree.

Scientific interests

Among his professional interests are: architecture, design, construction, power engineering, ecology and scientific and practical journalism.
He supervised 4 state budgetary scientific and research programs in the sphere of power efficient and energy active buildings.
In 2012-2015, Dmitry Zhukov was a member of International Research Group on carrying out the scientific project “The Development of Reliable Thermal Insulation Materials”.
D. Zhukov participated in international, all-union and republican scientific conferences, organized the events of that kind, including republican workshops on thermal insulation materials and systems in 2000 and 2001.
