Young artists of the «Image» studio take part in different fine arts competitions. They are laureates of regional, republican and international competitions.

In the opening speech the rector of Polotsk State University, Dmitry Lazovsky noted the obvious services of the «Image» studio in aesthetic education and forming of high artistic taste among students and university staff. Dmitry Lazovsky also wished Andrey Piskun, the head of the exhibition, and his pupils much success.

The head of Student’s club Elena Tyryshkina pointed out that all the works are made with the use of different techniques, and it is a creative debut for some young artists.

Andrey Piskun thanked all the guests, who visited the opening of the exhibition, for the interest to artwork. He also briefly introduced the exhibited works and the whole concept of the exhibition.

Students-members of the studio «Image» could also share their emotions with the audience. Sulamita Monich and Sergey Tanashuk thanked the university administration and Andrey Piskun for the possibility to exhibit their works.

Viktor Lukyanenko, a docent of the department of architecture, a member of Belarusian Art Union noted a significant contribution of Polotsk State University and the studio «Image» to the reviving of a creative life of Novopolotsk and Polotsk.

The head of the department of educational work Galina Polyakova pointed out that the studio «Image» involves a broad spectrum of faculties of our university.

Vladimir Ovseychik, the head of the department of architecture thanked the young artists for their work: «It’s nice to be at such an event, made by our students and lecturers. I’m proud that so many students who study at the speciality «Architecture» and «Design» took part in the exhibition.

Vladimir Lipsky, the head of the department of pipeline transport, water supply and hydraulics expressed his opinion about the event very deeply and emotionally:

«Last week I was in Geneva, including Geneva University. Today I think I’ve come back to that atmosphere. What is happening now is the note that sounds at Geneva University. This event is the level of best universities all over the world».

After the opening of the exhibition our correspondent met with the head of the studio «Image» Andrey Piskun.

The correspondent: Andrey Anatolyevich, please, tell us about your studio.

A.A. Piskun: The «Image» studio appeared in 2005. At first, only students of the speciality «Architecture» came to classes but then students from the other faculties joined the studio.

The correspondent: Could you find support from the university administration?

A.A. Piskun: From the very beginning I saw an interest in our studio from the university. We’ve already become popular at the exhibitions during the celebration of the University Day. All the students, lecturers and university staff knew about us.

The correspondent: How can you describe the students who visit your studio?

A.A. Piskun: To my surprise the students of non-artistic specialities are more successful. They are very hard-working. The working capacity is very important. You can be very talented but without working you just stay at the very beginning.

The correspondent: What prospect do you see in your studio?

A.A. Piskun: I personally like working with people. It’s interesting for me to open in them new sides of their personality, their artistic preferences, to help in the creation of images. It’s great to work with strong individuals. So I think that is the main perspective of work in our studio – to meet new interesting people.
