Elena Vasilyeva opened the festive event. A teacher of Novopolotsk State Musical College and wonderful musicologist, a constant host of Lunch-concerts at PSU congratulated all the guests with University Day and called upon the rector Dmitry Lazovsky to speak.

Speaking to the guests, Dmitry Lazovsky said: «We carry out such an evening for the second time. According to our information it is very successful. It’s not an official event. I wish you to have a pleasant rest from important and responsible daily work. All of you deserve it. The best rest is the company of good people».

The rector’s hope and expectations of the university administration, deans of faculties, members of Councils and young researchers, heads of departments, lecturers, staff and graduates of PSU were completely lived up!

At first the guests could enjoy a musical prologue performed by the teachers of Novopolotsk State Musical College. The excellent masterly performance and selected repertoire were an ideal complement to the light evening meal and friendly informal communication.

Women’s evening dresses and men’s suits added more charm to the evening.

After the amazing musical performance the guests were offered to enjoy the concert of the Presidential orchestra of the Republic of Belarus.

The outstanding musicians from the Presidential orchestra of the Republic of Belarus proved that their music sounds excellently at the assembly hall of PSU.

The musicians presented to the audience jazz and variety compositions – George Gershwin, Paul McCartney, Henry Mancini, etc.

Elena Vasilyeva drew a refined line by saying warm words to the musicians from the Presidential orchestra of the Republic of Belarus: «We are proud that there are such high-class musicians in Belarus, and today they are guests of Polotsk State University. Thank you very much for your art!»

After the orchestra’s performance all the guests came back to the courtyard where they were presented a musical programme jazz-party. During a break the guests could see the salute.

Such evenings become a good tradition at Polotsk State University. It means that University Day will present us with more «Intermezzo», a bright musical break during everyday work of Polotsk State University.
